Gestalte ein Landschaftsbild mit Filz in Inverness
Guests will be introduced to a wide colour palette of ethically sourced merino wool reflecting the rich colours of the Scottish Highlands. We will then tease apart and layer the wool to form a landscape scene before adding sparkling strands, and other felted fibres to represent sheep, trees and crofts. We will then sprinkle warm soapy water onto our artwork before rubbing it between 2 layers of bubblewrap. It's a bit like shinking a jumper in the wash! Our fibres will eventually bond, forming a firm piece of fabric. The artwork is rinsed and excess water squeezed out. Once dry, your unique felted landscape will be ready for you to take home and frame. Other things to note The cabin is accessed via a series of steps and gentle slopes which may be challenging for guests with limited mobility. The cabin has quite a low roof so please mind your head if you're over 5' 8"

Meet the Achpopuli Farm residents and have a wild wander
Join me on an informative farm walk, touring the different habitats and discussing nature friendly farming, regenerative agriculture and any other subjects that come up! We'll start with a cuppa and some locally made snacks. This is a chance to get to know each other a bit, to know what your interests are and if you want a particular slant on the tour and discussions. Then we will visit the sheep flock, see the ducks and geese at work, explore the agroforestry, heath, fens and bog and look at the wildlife that's present on the day. We can finish with a look at the fleeces and wool craft if that is of interest. This is a chance to get a really intimate look at a small scale regenerative farm, discuss the ethos behind the methods, be shown all the small things that you may not notice on your own. Find out how different elements works together and why a holistic approach is needed - and how we can take this further to look at other aspects of our lives. This is aimed at adults and young adults, if you would like to bring your kids please book a private group experience and I can tailor to the age of the children.
You will get an opportunity to learn how to whittle a spoon (or other item) while sitting in the woods on the edge of Inverness. I will provide all the tools and equipment required along with my support and knowledge. We will explore the basics of the craft of whittling from cutting a blank to creating an object while sitting in a beautiful and secluded woodland that is part of a retreat centre. We will work towards creating your own wooden spoon, however time and experience may limit the finished nature of the spoon. No experience is necessary. Other things to note Please bring some warm clothes, sturdy footwear and any food, snacks or treats you may want during our time together.
