A member of the Southern Craft Guild, The Folk Art Center is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Asheville area. They have gorgeous crafts, museum pieces and an art show on the 2d floor. They often have demonstrations by artisans who sell wares at the gallery where you can learn about a particular craft.

Hiking

There are thousands of miles of hiking trails in Western North Carolina, including hiking on the Appalachian Trail. Here is a list of hiking trails our guests have particularly loved and some others that are easy to moderate and very accessible from Asheville. Most are in the hiking books at Orion Sky.
Beautiful views from the cliffs above the river, a moderate, 4-mile hike. Also intersects with the AT (Appalachian Trail).
